Senior Accountant
This position would be a Temp (for approximately 2 months), possible temp-to-hire.
This position is responsible for the day to day accounts receivable, treasury - cash management, and account analysis for a publicly traded healthcare REIT.
Summary: There are a lot of daily tasks i.e. daily cash reconciliation, daily cash reports, daily end of day cash receipts reports and filing of cash transactions that will need efficiency so that it frees up time to complete other tasks.
Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable
- Prepare and process accounts receivable billing of rent, escrow, principal, interest, etc.
- Preparation and analysis of accounts receivable aging reports, late logs, and monthly write off reports
- Notification to customers of loan or rent payment increases
- Notification and collection of late payments and fees
- New GP customer setup and maintenance
- Generate customer payment history reports
- Filing of all accounts receivable items
Treasury - Cash Management
- Daily cash and journal entries of all banking transactions
- Daily wires for AP, CapEx, Working Capital, and other payments
- Daily cash reconciliation and reports for management
- Prepare weekly cash needs reports and analyze cash needs
- Prepare notifications to the bank of line of credit borrowing, continuation, and payoff notification letters
- Manage Senior Unsecure Note payments, tracking and maintaining agreements and wire information and coordinating with US Bank to ensure timely payment
- Filing for all cash related items
- Create and maintain Microsoft Dynamics GP reports and Vivid reports as needed
Account Analysis
- Prepare schedules and analyze accounts for the following:
- Property Tax Revenue and Expense including monthly Journal Entries
- Fixed Asset Rollforward
- AR & Allow Write Off
- AR Aging Report Reconciliation
- Deferred & Abated Rent & Interest
- Late Log
- Revenue – Mortgage Interest (fka Same Store Interest)
- SL Rent Receivable
- SL Rent Schedules for the Unrecorded Rent Analysis
- 5-Year Mortgage Rec NPV
Fixed Assets (Primary 1Q-2Q 2023; Backup 3Q-4Q 2023)
- Enter and maintain all assets in the Sage Fixed Asset Reporting system
- Prepare the Monthly depreciation journal entry
- Monthly reconciliation of fixed asset and depreciation
- Maintain inventory reports and control of assets
- Conduct corporate inventory count when required
Lease and Loan Schedules
- Prepare lease rent schedules and straight-line rent schedules
- Prepare loan amortization and effective interest schedules
- Prepare other notes receivable interest schedules
Other Duties
- Assist in month and quarter end accounting close and reconciliations
- Assist in Internal Control procedures and Sarbanes-Oxley Act Section 404 (SOX) compliance
- Assist outside and internal auditors as necessary
- Special projects as directed
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 3+ years’ experience
- Time management skills
- Excellent communication skills- This position communicates regularly with C-Suite/Management and banks
- Adobe and Excel skills are a must.
- Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (preferred)
- Background in property/real estate
- There is room for growth in knowledge, but not job title growth
- We need someone who can work on their own, taking ownership and work efficiently, but not be afraid to ask questions as needed.
- They would be trained by the current senior accountant for approximately 2 weeks.
- The regular hours can be 7 - 4pm or 8 – 5, we are somewhat flexible with the hours.
- The position is in Westlake Village and we prefer that if a commute is needed, it be reasonable.
- We have 7 in our accounting department and many of us have been here for 10 years or more.
