Property Accountant
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Serve as the initial expert for inbound clients
- Manage client clean ups in preparation for starting recurring services
- Serve as the ongoing Appfolio and Property Accounting expert on recurring engagements, using Appfolio for the managed properties and QBO for the PM company
- Meet monthly financial statement and bank reconciliations deadlines (financial statements are usually due on the 15th of the following month)
- Perform all accounting tasks including month-end close process, adjusting journal entries, bank reconciliations, bill and bill payment entries etc.
- Keep subledgers for balance sheet accounts
- Analyze and investigate unexpected fluctuations in income and expenses, communicate with clients and come up with resolutions to correct entries as needed
- Maintain daily communication with clients to keep them updated on the progress of your outstanding projects and answer general questions
- Create customized workflows and processes in JETPACK WORKFLOW that align with client business goals and objectives and monthly recurring tasks
- Train and educate clients on the use of APPFOLIO and property management best practices
- Help with side projects
QUALIFICATIONS
- REQUIRED: Must have worked at Appfolio/ been a daily user/or worked at a company providing Appfolio Accounting services
- REQUIRED: 4-year degree in accounting
- 4+ years of property management bookkeeping experience
- Understanding of how financial statements flow, be able to catch bookkeeping errors
- Strong familiarity with the property management industry
- Knowledgeable in Property Accounting as well as PM Company corporate accounting
- QuickBooks Online Experience
- Ability to diagnose and resolve most property management accounting issues in Appfolio including but not limited to
- Diagnostics warnings in Appfolio
- Move-out accounting and clearing account
- Bank Reconciliations, trouble-shooting out-of-balance issues
- Strong communication and call handling skills
- Experience as a property manager preferred but not required
- Proven track record of providing exceptional customer service
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Ability to quickly adapt to the use of internal applications used for project management (JetPack Workflow), time keeping, document manager (caseware), Teams (communications), Microsoft office and Outlook
