Facilities Maintenance and EHS Manager

Job Description :

A highly success medical device company is seeking a Facilities Maintenance and EHS Manager. 




The ideal candidate will serve an essential role in leading, partnering and supporting business driven technical and strategic initiatives in alignment with the Global Supply Chain operating plan. Additional responsibilities include complying with GMP/OSHA standards, site EHS programs, overseeing the site Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) certification program and managing the site's Waste Disposal program.




ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES


The major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Direct complex projects in line with business requirements: Collaborate with internal business resources, client partners and 3rd parties for comprehensive lifecycle support of business critical GMP applications and facility infrastructure.

  • Develop, implement, and communicate policies, procedures and standards while ensuring conformance with regulatory requirements, corporate policies and organizational objectives.

  • Provide leadership to ensure the highest standard of equipment performance are achieved and sustained. This involves establishing a sufficient number of highly-skilled, trained and qualified individuals; providing the tools, facilities, and environment needed for success; implementing efficient processes; and providing appropriate oversight.

  • Promote a culture in which support functions and maintenance/EHS work together to identify and resolve conditions that could negatively impact safety, quality or productivity.

  • Develop, implement, and manage site Maintenance/EH&S policies and procedures designed to ensure compliance related to Quality, EHS, Security, Dangerous Goods, Transportation, etc. (FDA, DEA, DOT, OSHA, EPA, etc.) and local regulations.

  • Effectively manage maintenance process that drives lower operational costs through improved uptimes, optimum labor and material spend, and increased equipment lifespan. Creates the right team to drive the process.

  • Responsibilities may include occasional special project work and other duties as assigned by Leadership.

  •  Leads Lean Operational Excellence initiatives (i.e., Kanban, Min/Max, etc.) and routinely interacts on the warehouse shop floor with colleagues.

  • Implement a strategy that effectively utilizes proactive (preventive and predictive) maintenance/EHS techniques and performance monitoring to detect early degradation and employ timely solution to prevent failure.

  • Lead and mentor direct reports responsible for site maintenance and EH&S.




Required Qualifications :


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Sciences or other applicable field, Environmental Health and Safety or a related field is preferred.

  • 5 years progressive experience in Facilities and EHS, Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.

  • Responsible for identification and timely submission of all applicable site EHS & GMP reporting.

  • EHS and Dangerous Goods Certification and/or training.

  • Strong understanding of all applicable local, state and federal regulations.

  • Contractor Management experience, PMP certification a plus.

  • Drives and summarizes significant tactical decisions and prepares and presents communications for Senior Management.

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Life Safety and Fire Protections Systems.

  • Commercial property experience, project management or new construction experience.

  • Strong technical knowledge and skilled at troubleshooting including HVAC, fire alarms and suppression systems, pumps, valves, motors, switches, timers and controls is a must.

  • Administrative experience, organizational ability, supervisory skills, demonstrated communicative ability, both orally and in writing. Proficient in report writing.

  • Motivated individual with strong self-directed capabilities as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to function in an environment of constant change and competing priorities.

  • Knowledge of Operational Excellence methodologies and tools. Lean / Six Sigma certified are a plus.


Additional Information:



  • Position requires on-call availability to address support functions for the site. 

  • This includes evenings and weekends on a routine basis. 

  • Some lifting of up to 40 lbs. may be required on occasion. 

  • Physically able to walk 25,000 sq. ft. facility.
