Corporate Accounting Manager
Summary of Position
Globally recognized brand is seeking a Corporate Accounting Manager, who will work with the Corporate Accounting team. The Manager plays a critical role in our monthly, quarterly, and annual close process of over 70 international subsidiaries to ensure the quality of the consolidation process and results. This role will oversee one senior accountant.
The Manager’s primary role will be to lead the monthly consolidation process, including coordination with international teams on close, managing consolidation journal entries, intercompany eliminations, and review of balance sheet results. This role will also oversee the consolidated Group review of fixed asset ledgers, by consolidating and analyzing the results of local team fixed asset ledgers. Group review of fixed assets includes compilation and review of the fixed asset roll forwards using information from international teams, testing of fixed asset activity and analysis of depreciation and amortization results compared to forecast and historical periods. The Manager will also partner our financial data team on the maintenance and continued enhancements to our general ledger and consolidation systems, and their impact on the consolidation process. This role would also assist with ad hoc analyses for external fundraising and internal management reporting. The Manager will coordinate and collaborate with financial data teams, financial analysis, financial reporting, and international controllers. The Manger may also help with process improvement initiatives.
Additionally, while the Company’s accounting and finance department is currently working remote, the expectation is that this position will be primarily office-based once employees are able to return to the office.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
o Responsible for oversight of global consolidation process, including coordination with international teams on close cycle, preparing and reviewing consolidated level journal entries, reviewing intercompany eliminations and preparing equity eliminations and roll forwards. This role will also partner with the financial data team to ensure the accuracy of the consolidated results and efficiency of the consolidation process.
o Responsible for review of master GL trial balances to Consolidation reconciliation, including review for completeness of financial data, identifying balance sheet reclasses and ensuring appropriate intercompany eliminations.
o Responsible for preparation and oversight of consolidated fixed asset and software roll forwards, including testing of fixed asset activity for the Group. As the most significant asset, the manager will be responsible for ensuring entities are appropriately following capitalization and fixed asset policies and will draft supporting schedules for the fixed asset footnote disclosures.
o Responsible for preparation and oversight of consolidated depreciation and amortization results compared to forecast and historical periods, including partnering with financial planning & analysis team (“FPA”) and international controllers, to review results and provide proactive and timely insights on trends and updates for key stakeholders.
o Responsible for preparation and oversight of Balance Sheet fluctuation analyses comparing to historical periods, to review fluctuations for reasonableness based on business trends and operations, and to ensure appropriate treatment of accounting transactions in key areas.
o Proactively assist with improvement initiatives for the accounting and reporting automation process by working to enhance the Consolidation and Reporting Tool (OneStream) and GL Ledger system (Microsoft Dynamics 365).
o Develop, coach and train senior accountant on corporate team.
o Assist in preparing materials and coordinating with auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits.
o Assist in ad hoc analysis for external fundraising and internal management reporting, on as needed basis.
This position is ideally suited for an individual who is detail oriented and driven by growth and change. This individual should be highly organized, detail oriented, have excellent time management skills and strong relationship management capabilities. Other qualifications include:
o Bachelor’s degree in the accounting or finance field
o Must have 5+ years of public accounting experience, CPA a plus
o Strong understanding of financial statements and US GAAP, experience, or exposure in IFRS a plus
o Aptitude for detailed numerical analysis of data, questioning and analyzing reasonableness of results in light of broader business environment and accounting guidance, and formulating follow-up questions, conclusions and/or solutions
o Experience working in a general ledger or consolidation reporting system
o Strong communication skills, written and verbal – required for global communications
o Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic environment
o Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and mentoring junior team members
o Skilled at building relationships and communicating across various organizational teams,
o Proficient in advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables and macros
o Demonstrates positive attitude and takes a proactive approach
o Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 or OneStream, a plus
